To Do
Food
The absence of major chains and franchises in Ucluelet and Tofino has shaped a diverse and independent food scene. Local cafés, bistros, and restaurants take pride in what they do, often sourcing ingredients as close to their origin as possible. Initiatives like the Tofino Ucluelet Culinary Guild connect kitchens with small farms across Vancouver Island, with some ingredients even foraged locally. The result is a thoughtful, seasonal approach to food that reflects the character of the coast.
Hunting and gathering
The rugged beauty of the Pacific Rim has long inspired local artisans and makers. Artists from the Group of Seven, including Arthur Lismer, captured this coastline in their work, and that tradition continues today. Contemporary artists such as Randolph A Celebrini, Mark Hobson, and Nelly Heyduck interpret the landscape across a range of media, while makers like Ahoy Bags lead the way in thoughtful, upcycled design.
With a mix of galleries and small shops—from fine art to handmade goods—there’s plenty to explore, regardless of the weather. Local artisan markets in Tofino (Saturdays) and Ucluelet (Sundays) offer another way to experience the region’s creative community.
Sights
Welcome to your playground.
Our guest suites are set in a particularly convenient spot—a short stroll to both Little Beach and Terrace Beach, ideal for a quick morning wander. The Wild Pacific Trail is just five minutes away, with its lighthouse loop offering one of the best vantage points for storm watching on the coast.
A bike path runs right past our doorstep if that’s your thing, but most places are easily reached on foot (the Co-op is about 10–15 minutes—just keep in mind what you’ll be carrying back). If you feel like heading further afield, Tofino is about a 40-minute drive, with plenty of beaches to explore along the way.
For exploring the coastline safely and responsibly, we recommend using the CoastSmart App.
Storm watching
